Where QUALITY time  =  QUALITY training

Agility Academy is an agility training facility, affiliated to the South African Dog Agility Association (SADAA) and was started in February 2008 by Debbie Maltby, Lindsay King and Chantal Holmes.

Lindsay started obedience with her GSD Tyzak many years ago. She returned to obedience in 1998 with her GSD Ascii  at the GSD Federation. In 2000 she moved to CPDC a club that offered  obedience and agility. Debbie joined  CPDC  where she met Lindsay. They both decided to do agility and their two older dogs Emma and Ascii moved up the ranks together. It was the start of their friendship and agility careers.

Having developed a passion for the sport Lindsay took a trainers course at the club and shortly afterwards Debbie completed the trainers course and started teaching the basics of agility to the beginners.  She loves the puppies and younger dogs and is in charge of all the new dogs starting at Agility Academy. They were both trainers there until 2007.

Debbie loves being involved in EVERYTHING and all the behind the scenes work such as class schedules, emails, phone calls, payments etc. are handled by Debbie and without her we would be lost. Whilst attending agility competitions they met Chantal Holmes from Southern Cape and Marlize Neethling from Cape Handlers Dog Club.

Handling a dog in agility came quite naturally to Chantal and after her success  in taking her two dogs Tommy and Jonti to Championship level, she started helping other handlers. She has been training classes since 2000 at Garden Route Dog club in Southern Cape and in 2007 became a trainer at CPDC. Chantal joined Debbie and Lindsay to start Agility Academy.

Marlize started obedience and agility training in 2000 when Kayla was a puppy. She really enjoyed agility and in 2001 became an assistant trainer at the club she was training at. Because of her friendly manner and passion for teaching agility Marlize became a full trainer at that club in 2002. She has taught agility to handlers with many different breeds of dogs with different ability levels .In 2009 Marlize joined Agility Academy as a Partner and trainer.

AGILITY ACADEMY IS A DOG TRAINING FACILITY THAT AGILITY TRAINING AT ALL LEVELS.

WE HAVE ALL TRAINED DOGS TO CHAMPIONSHIP LEVEL IN AGILITY AND/OR DOG JUMPING AT BOTH KUSA AND SADAA .

ALL TRAINING IS DONE USING GAMES, POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT AND REWARD BASED TRAINING. WE ACCEPT ALL BREEDS OF DOGS AND ALL AGES OF HANDLERS. DOGS NEED HAVE A RELIABLE RECALL AND SOLID STAY.

WE TRAIN FROM BEGINNER TO ADVANCED COMPETITION INCLUDING WEAVE POLES, CONTACTS AND HANDLING.

WE OFFER CLASSES ON MONDAY/WEDNESDAY EVENINGS AT NORMAN HENSHILLWOOD HIGH SCHOOL IN CONSTANTIA.
